Seven Stages of Refinement

Stage 01

Collection & Reception

Spent lead-acid batteries arrive at our facility from collection networks across Venezuela and the Americas. Every incoming load is weighed, inspected, and logged. We track battery type, condition, and origin before anything enters the process line.

Our reception area is designed for safe handling and acid containment. Batteries are staged in covered, acid-resistant bays until they move to the breaking line.

Stage 02

Breaking & Separation

Mechanical breaking equipment crushes batteries and separates them into recyclable components: lead, plastics, and acid — each directed to its own recovery stream.

Polypropylene casings become injection-grade recycled PP. Acid is neutralized on-site. Nothing leaves the facility untreated.

Stage 03

Smelting & Reduction

Lead paste and metallic grids enter our rotary furnaces — engineered for precise temperature control and optimal reduction chemistry. The result is uniform crude lead bullion, ready for refining.

Our furnaces operate with modern emission controls, including particulate filtration and fume capture systems that exceed local environmental requirements.

Stage 04

Refining & De-Coppering

This is where FUNMETAL separates itself from every other secondary lead producer. Most recyclers stop at 99.97% purity. We don't.

Our multi-stage refining process removes trace impurities to parts-per-million levels. The result is 99.98% pure lead — a specification that meets or exceeds LME standards.

That 0.01% difference between 99.97% and 99.98% matters. It shows up in grid corrosion rates, oxide consistency, and battery cycle life. Your QC team will see it in every Certificate of Analysis we ship.

Stage 05

Assay & Certification

Every batch is sampled and tested in our on-site laboratory. We measure the full elemental profile — not just lead content, but every trace element that affects downstream performance.

The result is a Certificate of Analysis (COA) that your procurement and QC teams can verify against your own specs before unloading. Independent third-party assays are available on request.

Stage 06

Casting & Packaging

Refined lead is cast into standard 25 kg ingots using precision molds that ensure consistent weight and dimensions. Each ingot is stamped with heat number and batch identification for full traceability.

Ingots are palletized to approximately 1 MT per pallet, stretch-wrapped, and staged in our covered warehouse for loading. Custom packaging configurations are available on request.

Stage 07

Logistics & Delivery

Finished product is loaded into 20-foot containers at our facility and transported to Puerto Cabello — Venezuela's principal commercial port, located just minutes from our campus.

We handle all export documentation: commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, COAs, and safety data sheets. Your container ships with everything your customs broker needs.

Transit to Houston or Miami: 5–7 days. Caribbean ports: 3–5 days. We offer FOB, CIF, and CFR terms.

Environment

Environmental Controls

Every stage of our process is designed to minimize environmental impact. Our facility operates under ISO 14001 environmental management standards.

Closed-loop water recycling — no process water discharged to the environment
Particulate filtration on all furnace emissions
Slag recovery and reprocessing — nothing sent to landfill
Sulfuric acid neutralization and treatment on-site
Zero-waste facility — every input stream is recovered or treated
